Season 1 is very short, but still the best season. This show is definitely not for everyone. People always call me the king of dry humor, but I know they are just calling me a jerk. If you are one who finds dry comedy to be funny, then this show is gold. Steve Carell has proven to Lost 1-6 set collection be one of the best comedic actors around in movies like '40 Year Old Virgin' and 'Anchor Man', but 'The Office' is where he fits in the best. Funniest show of all time.
Trepidation will haunt anyone viewing this series after viewing the British version of The Office, and indeed worst fears would well be confirmed upon viewing the very first episode. It is a verbatim copy of the English version; however, after a shaky second episode, it takes off in its own direction and begins shaping the characters differently to what we saw from the UK.Standing out as particularly good in this show is Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute - the equivalent of 'Gareth' from the original. In many ways this character is much more entertaining than the "weasel-faced" Gareth, and he comes up with some hilarious lines. One notable line is where he is describing his attraction to a woman by listing her positive features. Among them he lists "large breasts... the Schrutes are very thirsty babies." Steve Carell complete seasons of Gilmore Girls plays a much more obnoxious and intentionally cruel character than Ricky Gervais's David Brent. His 'Michael Scott' is more clued in than Brent and seems to actually get work done. You Robin Hood box set collection 1-3 also get the feeling he sometimes intentionally hurts people, whereas Brent always carried himself with a childish innocence and ambivalence to all around him. So on that score, Carell's performance distinguishes Weeds set seasons 1-5 itself from that of Gervais. In terms of entertainment, he's not quite as funny or effective as David Brent, but all the same Michael Scott is a funny creation, if not It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia series box set more offensive than Brent in terms of sheer obnoxiousness. The last four episodes (3-6) are worth the purchase of this DVD, especially episode 5, which is about a basketball game between the office staff and the warehouse staff. Scott, given a chance to display some masculine sporting finesse, claims "I might very well be a basketball machine". This is a worthy ancillary to the UK Office, one which is different enough to stand on its own two feet.
I am so glad I watched this series from show number one. For Medium box set season 1-6 a while I was afraid that I was alone and that it would be quickly cancelled. Luckily it is now starting to get a good following mainly to the rising of Steve Carell(40 Year Old Virgin). Though he is hysterical as Michael Scott, the rest of the cast deserves a lot of credit. This is a top notch cast, and the stories are interesting and funny. Anyone who has ever worked in an office can relate to a lot of this show. Whether it is the off beat The Closer season set Dwight, or the underlying Jim and Pam romance that may or may not surface. Great dvd, with some nice deleted and extended scenes. Pick this up and get watching a great show.
The Office is unlike anything else on television. It's about a small paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The boss of the series, Michael Scott (Steve Carrel) is not someone you want to hang out with- he thinks he's funny and "all that" when really he is annoying, and often insulting . But he tries too hard and it usually ends up with comical consequences. Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is the where to buy Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles season 1-2 "Assistant to the Regional Manager", he's basically a nerd and thinks of himself as Michael's right-hand man and 2nd-in-command of the place. But he ends up as the [...] of the jokes and is the subject of much teasing from Jim and Pam (John Krasinski, Jenna Fisher). They work in the office as well, and are good friends but Jim has deeper feelings for Pam even though she is engaged to Roy, a jerk who works in the warehouse. Ryan (B.J. Novak) is the new temp who works in the building, and he is a quiet, soft-spoken guy but Michael tends to showoff to him more then anyone else, much to his displeasure. The cameras are actually supposed to be there, filming all that goes on, most often characters will glance at the camera and there are "confessions" where they talk to the South Park 1-13 collection camera in a private room, discussing thing that are going on. The supporting characters add to the comedy, especially Kevin, who is my favorite. No laugh track, no background music, it's realistic. This is the only show currently on that makes me laugh out loud everytime. The commentaries are very interesting, you learn so many little secrets. I plan to buy the second season which is even better then this one. So if you have extra money lying around the house, see if you can find this, it's a gem.
If you love watching The Office on TV, you MUST get the first season on DVD. The deleted scenes and commentary are so funny! I got this for my husband for his birthday and we love watching it!!!
For those who say that working in an office is not like this, and you never had a boss like this, I invite you to sit in my desk for a week. We have Ugly Betty box set 1-4 seasons mandatory award shows that we can't bring our spouses to, we have Emergency Evacuation Capitans, and have had select men in our office have to sit through a video on sexual harrassment (all from season 2). I'm convinced someone from MY office writes this show!!! This series is priceless. Obviously- it's a little exaggerated, but isn't everything? It's ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! You're not laughing at Michael being mean and laughing because someone's hurt. You're laughing because you cheap NCIS seasons know that there are many people out there who actually do say these things and even though you hear them all too often- you're still shocked when they do!!! Lighten up and enjoy!I'm ordering the DVD right now!
Like most people who'd seen British humor mangled by clumsy American handling (Coupling comes to mind), I wasn't sure what to expect when NBC aired their version of The Office, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually funny. I'd DeadWood series complete 1-3 seen some of the British original but wasn't a rabid fan, and kept an open mind for this show, and was happy to see it improved as it went along. I find most people who bash this show haven't even seen it, or are clouded by their love of the British original, and won't give this one a shot with an open mind. If you don't juxtapose this show with constant comparisons to the other, it's enjoyable and does manage to find its footing with some uniquely American humor. "Health Care" is a personal favorite episode, but "Diversity Day" is pretty hilarious as well. But they all have their shining moments. The actors, similar to the cast of Arrested Development (another favorite of mine), have really done fantastic jobs of doing a lot with little -- reaction shots and comic timing are really what make this show, more than dialogue or wacky office hijinks. Dwight is a hilarious character, and the Pam-Jim unrequited-love angle is well done -- not so drawn out that it's frustrating, but always there in the background. Hopefully the second season will continue to amuse.
I was hugely skeptical before I saw this show. I thought it was totally unnecessary to remake a hugely successful show instead of just broadcasting the original. But now I'm a huge fan of this show. It's hilarious and sometimes just a little too familiar. Michael Scott (Steve Carrel) is great, Dwight is hilarious, and I love watching Jim and Pam plan their pranks.Don't judge the show based on the Burn Notice 1-3 boxset new episodes. The first two seasons are much better than the third (current) one.If you're looking for something to do between one Thursday and the next, check out Company by Max Skins complete collection Barry. It's a hilarious corporate satire about office politics and general management.
NBC has finally done it. They have found a winner in The Office. This has to be the funniest show on TV right now. It has great humor, filled with constant sarcasm. This is must see TV. Steve Carell has done a wonderful job portraying an ass who doesn't realize that he's being one. Hopefully, this show will continue on for many seasons.
Let's allow NBC's "The Office" to stand on its own. I tivoed the program and have watched it repeatedly. Not only does it still make me laugh but it Robin Hood series 1-3 season encourages me that something from the "Big Three" can still have quality. Perhaps those who enjoyed the British version can't separate one from Lie to Me complete season the other but in fairness to our "Office" I think it works---and wonderfully!
Office hype is all over the media these days. The show won an emmy and Steve Carrell is "hot" right now. So, if you've become a fan of the show during the second or third season, you need to buy this DVD so you can see where it all began. The first season was only six episodes. I guess NBC wasn't sure the show would succeed, being a remake of an extremely popular British show. And at first the show wasn't successful. Very The Tudors collection 1-4 complete few saw it and it seems like the only people that checked it out were fans of the British version and they didn't like it. But slowly the show built momentum and now it is where it is today. The DVD contains deleted scenes and commentary (for four episodes I think). There aren't many features but this is still a great buy.The pilot is almost a scene for scene remake of the British pilot I guess. I happen to think it is a great episode and sets the tone for Rome 1-2 box set season the series. The second episode is the first one I saw and immediately won me over for its great acting and political incorrectness. The Diversity Day episode is must see if only for Carrell's Chris Rock impersonation. From the beginning of season one, the foundation is laid for the Jim/Pam relationship. The minor characters don't get as much screen time as season two yet they are all there floating in the background. So, to all office fans, buy this set. Its cheap and its a classic.
For anybody has ever worked in an office and dealt with stuffy managers and political correctness, this is for you. The series is extremely well written and smart. The first season was not Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series set well promoted and was initially cancelled. However, those who did see Season One became rabid fans (much like what happened to Seinfeld initially) and the network is now taking another run at it this fall with Season 2. I am an extremely Brothers & Sisters box set series 1-4 tough critic on sitcoms and like very few. However, I don't The King of Queens complete 1-9 seasons remember the last sitcom that caused me to laugh to the point of tears and this one did.
For every positive review of the Americanized "Office", it seems that there are five negative ones, often based on how this one is not the British version. A lot of the time, though, these people miss the point: if it were exactly like the Brit show, this "Office" would be worthy of such derision. However, there's enough to like about "The Office" to build up a small but devoted fan base (much like the critical darling "Arrested Development" on Fox). For one thing, Steve Carell might not be Ricky Gervais, but he shouldn't have to be: Michael Scott is the perfect "boss who doesn't get it", a corporate boob who is despised on both sides of the power structure (those below him and above him in stature). The supporting cast makes the show, however: the Jim and Pam romantic angle is the heart of the show, while Dwight's paranoia gets the better of him on almost Rome set 1-2 season every episode. Ryan the intern is more of a background character than his prominent place in the credits may suggest, but B.J. Novak happens to be a writer on the show. I guess he could write himself into it as much (or as House MD season box set little) as he desires. If it were just that, the show might fail. But the whole atmosphere of workplace mundane nature is pitch perfect. The documentary feel (a condition that is both acknowledged and unknown at times) gets you on the floor with Dunder-Mifflin as Michael and his cohorts awkwardly make their way through the day. Jim lusts after Pam, but does little order Rome in the way of getting her away from Roy. Dwight tries to assert an authority he doesn't have. The Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles 1-2 boxset collection various characters in the office have their own personalities, which come out to great comedic effect over the course of the season. All in all, "The Office" Version USA is more than okay. It's definitely one of the better shows on television this year, and thankfully NBC is bringing it back. I'm sure the British original is brilliant in its own right, but I like this "Office" just fine. For anyone who's ever worked a job that they hate, you'll feel right at home here. And you'll laugh more out of recognition than anything else.
This show is the best. I was slow to get into it, but now every thursday night I am glued to the TV waiting eagerly for the Office theme song and opening views of lovely Scranton. The characters are hilarious but very realistic. It is a comical, hilarious, but nearly realistic depiction of the american workplace.
I'll get the obvious out of the way.... the BBC original series, The Office, is brilliant. When NBC started promoting an American version of The Office, I cringed. It seemed flat and unfunny, and I initially refused to watch. I caught a few minutes one week, and I've been hooked since. It is, surpisingly, quite good. I didn't want to like the show, but found myself drawn in, much in the same way that I was with the original. Steve Carell is funny, although he does pale in comparison to Ricky Gervais. He seems like he is trying a little too hard to play the character, and it takes him a few episodes before he seems comfortable in the role. John Krasinski is not Martin Freeman either, but his "Jim" character is quite charming in his own way. I was a little surprised at his casting at first because I thought he was too much of a "Ken doll" to play the Tim/Jim role, but after a few episodes, he grew on me. One of the best things about The Office is that it is a comedy that is actually funny Nip Tuck complete series dvd (there are very few on American television, so it's a most welcome addition). The writing is sharp, witty, and well done. It does not condescend to it's audience by blasting it with an annoying laugh track. NCIS 1-7 series collection Although it is difficult not to compare the two shows to Entourage 1-6 collection box set each other, if you watch NBC's The Office and judge it on it's own merits, the show is entertaining and worth watching. I'm glad I gave the show another chance. It isn't necessary to choose between the BBC and American versions of the show. It's okay to like them both.
I love The Office episodes and to have them with no commercials, and watch them any time you want is a winner. The Office is a commedy that keeps you laughing until your sides hurt and your so afraid that your going to miss the next joke that you try Entourage 1-6 season and keep it stiffled. There are only 6 episodes in season 1, but they are worth the twenty The Wire seasons 1-5 cheap bucks!
I started watching The Office in its 3rd season and enjoyed it so much that I decided to go back and watch it from the beginning. I was surprised that there were only 6 episodes in the 1st season and wondered if it had gotten off to a rocky start. However, from the pilot episode through the 6th, I was laughing out loud and found it to be one of the funniest seasons of tv I had ever seen! It's too bad there aren't more episodes to the first season, but it is definitely worth watching. There are quite a lot of deleted scenes in the bonus footage as well, and most of them are a riot. All around it's a great DVD to own!
I have a very difficult sense of humor, very little 30 Rock series dvd 1-4 comedies are funny to me. So, to my surprise I laughed atleast once to every episode of the office. I just wish there were more than 6 episodes on the dvd.
Hilarious!!! And the deleted scenes give you a little extra.
